Marfa Real Estate - Part One

8:22 -

General Mercantile Building in Valentine
This unique turn of the century (1907 is imprinted on the facing) building reflects a bygone era of one-stop-shopping for ranchers and rural communities. In the rear of the store is a beautifully lined wooden platform. Your imagination can just run wild in trying to recreate what went in all the shelves and small cubby holes and on the original countertops. Unbelievably, the mostly adobe, approximately 5,720 sq. ft. building is in original condition with wood floors, tin ceiling trim on the exterior, and wood ceilings. It does need cleaning and renovation but has great possibilities as a dance hall, museum, etc. It could be eligible for a grant and historic marker.

Asking $99,000. Extra lots next to the bldg. (50'X190'each) can be included for a total price of $195,000. The additional lots include an old arena and corner adobe structure.

*Stay tuned!  This building may appear in a later personal project!

17:19 - This is the second time in less than a week that I have seen this image, and each time I have to spend an extra minute looking because I find the room so fabulous!  Maybe its the fact that it is winter (although today it was warm enough for driving with the windows down here in Texas) but the room looks so inviting, cozy and academic.

15:33 - Who wants to move into an architect's apartment in Florence?  I do!

we do care about our home and we want to rent to a nice people who will take care of it as we do.
the apartment is huge but we want max 2 people to live here (of course you can have guests but sometimes)

...the apartment is AMAZING
It is in the historical and characteristic neighborhoods of San Niccolò ...just the best in Florence!
It is between Piazzale Michelangelo and the Arno river.
It's close to everything, lots o restaurants, bars, shops, 5 minutes walk to Piazza Signoria.

The apartment is on the second floor of an historic 19th century building, completely renovated 3 years ago.
We are both architects and we care a lot about our place, it has been renovated with love and furnished we style ;-)
It is comfortable, quite and with a lot of sunlight.

the size:
it is 1,400 sq ft, it has lots of rooms, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathroom, the kitchen, the living room, a library/play room, an office, and laundry, box room, cloak room, closet and lumber room...

ops! yes, it has the backyard :-)

the amenities:
hard wood floor, exposed bricks vault, modern design forniture, 32" lcd tv, wi-fi in every room, dish washer, washing machine, sky tv, security system, garden

more pictures are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/newyorkforflorence/Gallery#

we ask for 2000€/month, utilities are not included (around 150€)
2 months deposit, min stay 6 months max 1 year (it could be more but it depends if we stay in New York or we have to come back)
the apartment will be available from March 2011

If you are interested email us a brief description of you and and I'll write back.
Hope to hear from you!

Ciao,
Francesco

If that isn't a European looking apartment then I don't know what does!

Coup de Foudre

8:06 - This is a lovely home in the 14th Arrondissement in Paris, France. I love the lighting. Reminds me of the quote by Corb "Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light." So rightly said.

This first struck me because it is beautiful and it struck me a second time because the current apartment in my mind has a loft overlooking large windows and a garden too!

Where can I learn to be this glamorous?! White shirt, khaki skirt, black tights....logging that one away in the back of my mind for future fashion use!

Perfectly Dreamy

20:40 -

Savannah Apartment Hunting

8:03 - Martin and I have, more or less, decided that next PCS we are going to be renters again. Not that owning a house is hard it's just something all the time. If we do move somewhere totally cool and historic it would be nice to rent a unique apartment downtown. The only thing I would really want to be able to do while living as a renter is paint. I can deal with a less than stellar kitchen or bathroom. Ideally it would have a smart floorplan, small yard or garden courtyard, within walking distance of something I'd enjoy, and at least one designated parking space.

*Holy Moly! Keep this wallpaper in the back of your mind. Because it must have unconsciously been in the back of mine!
