Logo Design

17:56 - My day at "the office" was mostly spent working on a logo for my boss's new sister company, Payne General Contracting.  Seems like a good business venture seeing that she already runs a successful interior design firm, don't you agree?

What started this morning as this:

14:47 - I made these Pottery Barn inspired dishtowels as part of our Christmas gift to Martin's parents.  The final step is to get a fancy letter "P" monogrammed on the front of each.  Now I'm inspired to make any spare yard of fabric into dishtowels!!

To Sew

14:49 - Today at Hancock Fabric's the patterns were on sale...yippee!!  Vogue patterns are usually between 15 and 25 dollars but were on sale for $3.99.  I bought these two patterns seen below:

 

 

I purchased this multi-colored wool fabric (in white, taupe and gray) to sew the jacket and figured I would buy fabric for the dress later. 

 

 

 

Both are a little unusual in style but think they look like clothes you'd find at Zara, which I love.  Besides, I have been wanting a nice winter coat and with the pattern and the fabric on sale the coat seen above will cost me 30 dollars instead of close to 100 dollars (what I would imagine it would retail for).  Sewing clothes is something I have always wanted to be able to do and have told Martin if he ever gets stationed overseas again that is what I would devote my free time to.  But heck, why do later what I can do now!?

Turnstyle Pinnacle

12:20 - Last night inspiration hit when I found this beautifully creative website for Breathe Architecture.  I was sitting there wondering how to turn that same concept into a hard copy portfolio and figured "Instead of sitting here wondering, why don't I pour myself a glass of milk and have a go at it??"

I am not sure how it would be best to orient the pages, though it might be fairly obvious once I try adding portfolio images to it.  Another worry is that if the front sides are images, is having the back side where you find the text irritating?  To have to flip everything over to read about the project?  Something to think about.  And while I created these late last night, this is counting as Thanksgiving day's daily charrette.    :)

Bubble Gum And Desert Hued

 15:20 - The final result of sewing a bunch of scrap fabric together, a colorful mini clutch!  I am now a snap making master but still need to practice (or just be more patient when sewing) the final top closure hem.  The colored bands are different from front to back, it is subtly but I like it.
